How to build a Webflow client portal now that User Accounts are gone

The short answer

Webflow shut down User Accounts on January 29, 2026, so a Webflow site no longer has a built-in way to give clients a private login. Webflow points people to Outseta and Memberstack, which add logins and gated pages, and are built for selling memberships. For per-client files and project status, a dedicated client portal on a subdomain like portal.yourstudio.com is simpler.

What happened to Webflow User Accounts

Webflow announced the change on December 11, 2024. You could still switch User Accounts on for a site until January 31, 2025. The feature shut down for everyone on January 29, 2026, along with its APIs and webhooks.

According to Webflow's help center, sites still using User Accounts at the deadline lost access to that data, because it wasn't migrated into the CMS. Owners were told to export their users as a CSV first.

If you built client logins on User Accounts, those are gone. If you were planning to, you need a different route.

Option 1: a membership tool on your Webflow site

Webflow names Outseta and Memberstack as its top recommended partners. MemberSpace is another common choice. All three add logins and gated pages to a site you already have.

Memberstack$25 a month billed yearly, or $29 monthly, plus a 4% transaction fee
Outseta$37 a month billed yearly, or $47 monthly, plus a 2% transaction fee
MemberSpace$24 a month billed annually, plus a 5% transaction fee

Each of them sells itself on memberships, payments and gated content. That's the right fit if you sell courses or a paid community. A client portal asks for something else: one known person seeing their own files and where the project stands. With a membership tool, you design those pages in Webflow, set up the gating for each client and keep it all current as the work moves.

Option 2: a dedicated client portal on your subdomain

Keep Webflow for your marketing site and run the portal next to it on a subdomain, such as portal.yourstudio.com. You add one CNAME record at your DNS provider, and the portal sits on your own address.

With ClientDesk, each client gets a private link to their projects, files and messages, with your logo and colors. Nothing to build in the Designer and no password for the client to manage. A client who loses their link enters their email on your portal address and gets a one-time sign-in link, so a “Client login” button on your Webflow site works. The Business plan ($29/mo) puts every client link on your subdomain.

When a membership tool is the right call

You sell access: a course, templates or a paid community.

Clients need to log in to content that lives inside your Webflow design.

You want payments and gated content handled in one place.

You're happy to build and maintain more pages in the Webflow CMS.

If you're a web designer who just needs clients to see progress and pick up files, you don't need any of that machinery.

Client logins without building them in Webflow.

ClientDesk is free for 1 client. Pro adds your branding for $12/mo, and Business puts the portal on your own subdomain for $29/mo.

No credit card required.

Frequently asked questions

Does Webflow still have User Accounts?

No. Webflow shut down User Accounts on January 29, 2026, including its APIs and webhooks. Nobody has been able to switch it on for a site since January 31, 2025.

What does Webflow recommend instead of User Accounts?

Webflow names Outseta and Memberstack as its top recommended partners. Both add member logins and gated content to a Webflow site.

Can I build a client portal with Memberstack or Outseta?

You can gate pages to logged-in members and build client pages in Webflow. Both tools describe themselves as membership products, so per-client files and project status are yours to design, build and keep current.

Can a client portal live on my Webflow site's domain?

Yes, on a subdomain. Add a CNAME record for something like portal.yourstudio.com at your DNS provider. ClientDesk supports custom domains on the Business plan at $29/mo.

What happened to my User Accounts data?

Webflow didn't move it into the CMS. Sites still using User Accounts on January 29, 2026 lost access to that data, which is why Webflow told owners to export their users as a CSV beforehand.
